Submit Your Thesis or Dissertation

Northeastern University's Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETD) Program

Like many colleges and universities, Northeastern has implemented an Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETD) program to replace the traditional practice of depositing print copies of theses and dissertations in the library. Read more about our ETD program here (PDF).

You will submit your thesis or dissertation electronically to ProQuest/UMI Dissertation Publishing, where it will be made available through the ProQuest Dissertations and Theses (PQDT) database. Because PQDT only permits full-text access to subscribers, your thesis or dissertation will also be made openly available in the Library's Digital Repository Service (DRS).

You are also welcome to contact h.corbett [at] (subject: ETD%20Program%20query%20from%20library%20website) (Hillary Corbett), Scholarly Communication Librarian, with any additional questions or comments about the university's ETD program.

Submitting your Thesis or Dissertation

Each college at Northeastern University maintains its own individual requirements for the preparation and submission of theses and dissertations. Before submitting, students should contact their department or graduate school for specific information. (In some cases this information is available online and linked below.) To submit your thesis or dissertation, please choose the correct "ProQuest submission interface" link for your school or college:

Bouvé College of Health Sciences

College of Arts, Media and Design

College of Computer and Information Science

College of Engineering

College of Professional Studies

College of Science

College of Social Sciences and Humanities

Although not required by the university, you may want one or more bound copies of your thesis or dissertation. You can order bound copies from ProQuest during the submission process; locally, we recommend Acme Binding in Charlestown. Many local photocopying businesses also provide this service with various types of binding.
