Not sure how to get started using academic technology? This course will provide you with a menu of options supported or recommended by Academic Technology Services such as Articulate Storyline, SoftChalk, Blackboard Collaborate Web Conferencing, TurnItIn Plagiarism Detection software, Digication e-Portfolios, Tegrity screencasting software, TurningPoint Student Response, and VoiceThread discussion platform. There are a lot of tools to cover, so while this won’t be a hands-on workshop like most of our other sessions, you’ll quickly discover which tools you might like to take further training in and get tips for focusing your effort on tools that will make a difference to your students.

In this course, you’ll learn how to set up Digication so that your students can create and manage portfolios via a link in Blackboard. We’ll cover the Digication E-portfolio interface, portfolio template features, course and group management, sharing and commenting options, and creating assignments and rubrics. We’ll also go over tips for implementing portfolios in your course.

We will both suggest and elicit strategies to help you facilitate your online courses in ways that are effective and efficient, and we will provide a template for planning course facilitation strategies.
