Reciprocal Borrowing Privileges

Reciprocal borrowers from our partner libraries are limited to borrowing 25 items at one time.

Borrowing periods

Snell Stacks (General Collections) 28 days, with 3 renewal periods
Media Items (DVDs, CDs, VHS tapes) 1 week, no renewals
The Hub 14 days, with 3 renewal periods

Items that have been requested by another library user may not be checked out again or renewed.  If items are needed for more than 3 renewal periods, you may bring them to the Help and Information Desk in person to check them out again. If a renewal period for an item exceeds the expiration date on your BLC Card or institutional ID, that item will be renewed until the expiration date.

What if an item is returned late?

There is a 3-day grace period before fines are charged on general collection items.

All Items $.25 per day ($10 maximum)

Note: If your account accumulates $50 in fines, you will not be able to borrow until the balance is paid off. If materials are overdue for more than 40 days, you may incur additional lost book charges.

The library reserves the right to block your account for excessive fines or failure to return items needed by other borrowers.

How do I pay fines and fees on my Library account?

Reciprocal borrowers may pay by check or exact change at the Snell Library Help and Information Desk. Please make checks payable to Northeastern University.
